Life in Morro Jable

Avenida del Saladar is the shopping street by the sea. The beach is five minutes on foot: the Saladar stretch of Playa del Matorral is sheltered from the trade wind, with fine sand and calm water. A flat seafront promenade leads in about 20 minutes to the old town, the harbour and the market hall. There is a small shop in the building and larger supermarkets under five minutes' walk away, plus cafés and restaurants along the avenue, a health centre and two pharmacies in town.

You don't need a car: the bus stop is outside the door, with a direct bus to Fuerteventura airport (about 85 km), and ferries leave Morro Jable harbour for Gran Canaria and Tenerife. A car hire office is about 200 m away for trips across the island.

Weather from autumn to spring

According to the official climate normals of Spain's weather agency AEMET (Fuerteventura Airport station, 1981–2010), average daytime highs are 26 °C in October, 22 °C in December, 20.6 °C in January and 22–23 °C in March and April, with only one to three rainy days a month. The sea stays at around 18.5–20 °C in winter and 22–23 °C in October.
